We appreciate greatly all donors living in the Whitby area as well as generous visitors too. We are well into our third year of operation now and continuing to help neighbours in need through your donations.
We have benefitted greatly from donations through the bin in Sainsbury’s and the support and encouragement of the staff. Around half the food received came through the bin there.
Sainsbury’s are rotating the causes they support in their stores and there is now no longer a permanent bin located there, although we hope to reappear there again from time to time as the opportunity arises.
The bins at Coliseum/YCH, the Co-op and Sleights Churchfield Surgery continue and are now joined by additional donation points at Whitby Library, the Endeavour Bookstore (Grape Lane), and Musicport and The Dispensary both in Skinner Street.
Plus, you can donate directly at foodbank4whitby (behind Whitby Evangelical Church in Skinner Street) on most Monday & Friday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm.
We would be pleased to have other offers or suggestions of places where a collection point might be placed, particularly at or close to a food store. Some churches have boxes and we would be pleased to hear from others who might help.
So, carry on donating as you have been doing. If a group, club or shop wishes to collect monetary donations we can arrange to provide collection containers and the money will be converted into foodstuffs.
Thank you from the f4w team.
