Volunteers from in and around Whitby are at the heart of the Foodbank. They ensure the continued provision of emergency food parcels for those who are in urgent need.

Volunteer’s tasks are varied. A team of up to six people is needed each Monday and Friday afternoon to collect food from the donation points, manage the warehouse and meet the clients. Some are able to help regularly, others on an occasional basis. Whatever time given is appreciated.

In the warehouse we sort, date and shelve food, manage stock rotation and pack up food parcels for clients.

If possible we offer tea or coffee to clients whilst they wait for their food parcel. Taking time to chat and providing encouragement to help clients is an important aspect of what we do.

If you would like to find out more about volunteering please get in touch via our contact page, or call in on Monday or Friday afternoons.
