Donors are the key to Foodbank4Whitby: without the generous donations of food from individuals, schools, churches, local businesses and other organisations in the community the foodbank simply would not exist!
Individual donations can be made at the Foodbank itself during opening hours (Mondays and Fridays 2.00-4.00pm), or at one of the many collection points in and around Whitby. There are boxes or bins for you to fill at:
- Co-op, Langbourne Road, Whitby
- Whitby Library
- Coliseum, Whitby
- Musicport, Skinner Street
- The Dispensary, Skinner Street
- Spar, Sleights
- Churchfield Medical Practice, Sleights
- Many local churches
If you cannot get to a collection point easily or you have a large number of items to donate then please call Chris 07789 765696.
Typical items we need are given below. The list below is not exhaustive, but please note that we cannot take fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, dairy produce, items that have been opened, or anything beyond its ‘best before’ date. Small sized packets are preferred.
|Tinned fish, stew, meatballs||Tinned hotdogs||Instant noodles||Tea, coffee, squash|
|Tinned ham, corned beef, meat pies||Jars of pasta or curry sauces||Plain or savoury rice||Sugar, longlife milk|
|Tinned spaghetti, macaroni cheese||Tinned potatoes, packet mash||Breakfast cereals, porridge||Tinned fruit|
|Tinned vegetables, tomatoes||Biscuits, jams and spreads||Tinned rice pudding, custard||Packet desserts, jelly|
As well as food items we collect toiletries, toilet rolls and items for household cleaning and laundry. We currently have plenty of baked beans, soup and dry pasta.
