Volunteers from in and around Whitby and around are at the heart of Foodbank4Whitby. They ensure the continued provision of emergency food parcels for those who are in urgent need. Help by the community for the community.
Volunteer’s tasks are varied. Some volunteers are able to help regularly, others on an occasional basis. Whatever time given is appreciated.
A team of up to six people is needed each Monday and Friday afternoon to collect food from the donation points, manage the warehouse and meet the clients.
In the warehouse we sort, date and shelve food, manage stock rotation and pack up food parcels for clients.
As part of meeting clients we offer tea or coffee whist they wait for their food parcels. We have time to listen to clients and provide encouragement to help them out of a crisis.
